Wyffels hybrids with Agrisure CB/LL. Excellence in genetics and exellence in yield protection through highly effective control of European corn borer and other damaging insects.
Hybrids with Agrisure CB/LL deliver excellent control of European corn borer and several other members of the Lepidoptera family of insects. Agrisure CB/LL utilizes the naturally occurring soil bacterium Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) and produces a protein which is toxic to Lepidopteran insects. When a corn borer eats any part of the corn leaves, silks, stalks or ears, the Bt protein breaks down in the intestine, damages the cell membrane and causes death before economic crop damage can occur.
Reduced disease pressure due to less corn borer stalk and ear tunneling injury results in enhanced plant stand, better yields, and higher grain quality.
Targeted pests
Growers planting hybrids with Agrisure CB/LL will enjoy:
• Excellent control of first- and second-generation European corn borer
• Excellent control of first-generation and very strong control of second-generation Southwestern corn borer
• Excellent control of leaf-feeding damage and suppression of ear-feeding damage from corn earworm
• Suppression of fall armyworm and Southern cornstalk borer
LibertyLink on board
In addition, all hybrids with Agrisure CB/LL are tolerant to LIBERTY herbicide. The LibertyLink benefit gives growers another option for weed control.
IRM Requirements
Like all Bt hybrids which control corn borers (e.g. Bt corn), hybrids with Agrisure CB/LL must be planted in accordance with an Insect Resistance Management (IRM) program. This IRM program is required by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and is mandated for all Bt corn hybrids. Once a grower has signed and returned the Agrisure Stewardship Agreement, this represents the grower's commitment to implement this program. Current IRM plans require growers planting Bt corn to plant at least part of their corn acres to a corn refuge (e.g. hybrids that do not control corn borers). The purpose of the refuge is to provide a supply of susceptible corn borers to mate with any rare resistant moths emerging from nearby Bt corn.
Specific details on refuge requirements are available in the most current version of the Agrisure Stewardship Guide. Simple refuge reminders are as follows:
Size: minimum of 20% of total field corn acres planted to refuge corn (50% in cotton-growing regions)
Distance: field corn refuge must be within one-half mile of Bt corn field
Insecticides: refuge may be treated with conventional insecticides (no Bt-based microbials) only if economic thresholds are reached for target pest(s).
