September 2025 – Ames, IA — At Wyffels, we believe the future of agriculture starts with curiosity, hands-on learning, and a strong connection to the land. That’s why we were proud to host the 2025 Regional Youth Crop Scouting Competition with Iowa State University at our Ames production facility, for a day filled with learning, teamwork, and a whole lot of scouting. Teams from Iowa, Nebraska, Indiana, Minnesota, Kentucky and Illinois competed at the event in September.

This year’s event brought together high school students from across the Midwest to test their agronomic knowledge in real-world field conditions. From identifying crop diseases and insect pests to evaluating plant health and making management recommendations, these students tackled challenges that farmers and agronomists face every season.

And they didn’t just show up, they impressed. Their performance is a testament to the power of hands-on learning and the importance of investing in the next generation of ag professionals.

Earlier this summer, eleven teams competed in the regional competition also hosted at the Wyffels Ames facility. Hosting this event at our Ames facility gave students a chance to experience a working seed production site and interact with Wyffels team members who live and breathe agronomy every day. It also gave us a front-row seat to the passion and potential these young leaders bring to the future of farming.

We’re proud to support programs like this that align with our mission: helping farmers succeed today while cultivating the talent that will shape agriculture tomorrow.
