Wyffels Hybrids is excited to announce a new collaboration with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach to launch a four-part event series titled Between the Rows® – In Field Edition. These events will be held at Wyffels’ newly opened production facility in Ames, Iowa. This partnership aims to deliver cutting-edge agricultural insights directly to farmers through hands-on experiences and observations from industry experts.
The event series will provide an opportunity for growers and industry professionals to engage with the latest university research. Each session will focus on timely, field-based topics, combining Wyffels’ innovations with Iowa State’s academic expertise.
These events are open to the public, and while registration is recommended, it is not required. Feel free to attend in your work attire, whether you’re coming straight from the tractor or the field.
Topics will rotate every 30 minutes, allowing you to drop in and catch the sessions that matter most to you. Enjoy a free meal and giveaways at this come-and-go open house!
Register TodayDr. Alison Robertson leads statewide efforts in Iowa to manage corn and soybean diseases. Through research and Extension, she supports farmers and agribusiness with practical, science-based solutions. Her work focuses on seedling diseases caused by Pythium and Phytophthora, the impact of cover crops on pathogens, and evaluation of fungicides and seed treatments. Alison will be leading a discussion in identifying and managing early season diseases.
Dr. Erin Hodgson is a professor of entomology at Iowa State University, specializing in integrated pest management (IPM) for corn and soybean. Since 2009, she has led extension and research efforts to boost crop yields and farmer profitability by managing pests like soybean aphid, gall midge, and Japanese beetle. Her work also addresses emerging and invasive species in field crops. Erin will be leading a discussion on scouting and managing early-season insects.
Angie Rieck-Hinz is a Field Agronomist with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, serving north central Iowa. With over 30 years of experience and an M.S. in Soil Fertility from ISU, she specializes in crop and pest management, as well as nutrient and manure planning. Angie is a Certified Professional Agronomist and Certified Crop Adviser, dedicated to supporting Iowa’s farmers with science-based solutions. Angie will be leading a discussion on diagnosing nutrient deficiencies and optimizing nitrogen use.
Gentry Sorenson is a Field Agronomist with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, serving Northwest Iowa. He provides crop management education to farmers, agribusinesses, and certified crop advisors, and is a Certified Crop Advisor in Iowa. Gentry will be leading a discussion on diagnosing nutrient deficiencies and optimizing nitrogen use.
Eric Wilson is an Agronomy Manager at Wyffels Hybrids. He works with farmers in southern and northeast Iowa, providing agronomic support and expertise. Wilson holds degrees in biotechnology, agronomy, and crop production. Eric will be leading a discussion on when and how corn yield is determined.
Colin Neumann is a District Sales Manager for Wyffels Hybrids, serving growers in Adair, Madison, Ringgold, and Union counties in Southwest Iowa. On June 10th, during the "Between the Rows – In Field Edition" event, Collin will break down the complex corn trait landscape. He’ll explain key differences between trait packages and offer practical advice to help farmers choose the right options for their fields.
