Wyffels Hybrids, in collaboration with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, is gearing up for the first installment of the Between the Rows – In Field Edition event series for the 2026 growing season. Hosted at Wyffels’ production facility in Ames, Iowa, this first session continues the mission of delivering cutting-edge agricultural insights through hands-on experiences and expert-led field observations.

Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with the latest university research and explore timely, field-based topics that blend Wyffels’ innovations with Iowa State’s academic expertise. As with previous events, the gathering is open to the public, and while registration is encouraged, it’s not required.

A complimentary grilled meal will be served at the end of the event.

Plantability and Stand Evaluation - Dr. Jared Goplen, Wyffels Agronomy Manager

In this practical, field-focused session, Jared Goplen will discuss the key factors that influence plantability and early-season stand establishment. Early Season Scouting Issues - Mike Witt, Wyffels Agronomy Manager

In this interactive, agronomy-focused session, Mike Witt will cover key issues growers should be watching for during early-season scouting. From emergence concerns and environmental stress to insect and disease pressure, you’ll learn practical tips for identifying problems early and making informed management decisions to help keep your crop on track throughout the season.

Post-Emergence Herbicide Timing - Meaghan Anderson, ISU Extension

In this practical and timely session, Meaghan Anderson will discuss key considerations for post-emergence herbicide applications and how timing can impact overall weed control effectiveness. Learn how environmental conditions, weed size, and product selection influence performance, along with strategies to help maximize control and protect yield potential throughout the growing season.

Dr. Jared Goplen

Agronomy Manager

Dr. Jared Goplin is an Agronomy Manager for Wyffels Hybrids. He is responsible for supporting the northern portion of Wyffels Hybrids' geography, including southern Minnesota, southeastern South Dakota, and north-central Iowa. 

 

Mike Witt

Agronomy Manager

Mike Witt is an Agronomy Manager for Wyffels Hybrids. He is responsible for supporting western and central Iowa as an agronomist. 

Meaghan Anderson

Extension Field Agronomist

Meaghan Anderson is a field agronomist serving nine counties in central Iowa and an extension specialist at Iowa State University Extension and Outreach. 

Dr. Alison Robertson

Professor and Field Pathologist

Dr. Alison Robertson is a Professor of Plant Pathology and Microbiology and an Extension Field Crops Pathologist at Iowa State University.
